About

General Info

My name is David Siegfried and I am a Front-end Web Developer/Designer. My passion in web is creating accessible, standards based code with an eye for user interface and tight, clean design. I use a set of wonderful design and development tools to accomplish my goals and pronounce my passion. This tool set includes but is not limited to HTML, CSS, JavaScript, the Adobe Creative Suite and WordPress.

Web Philosophy

I believe strong in standards based web design. I believe in a web where interfaces and applications use the newest features to deliver the best products and degrade gracefully to support older systems. Designers and developers struggling fruitlessly for needless pixel perfection is, in my mind, a needless, wasteful task holding an emerging web back. However, I often succumb and have long whiled away nights correcting for older browsers. The project, as always, steers the technology and the design fits the need. In all of this I never forget that content is king and the web is at its best as an intuitive, simplistic platform meant to assist people in leading their ever more complicated lives.

Personal

I currently live in Eden Prairie, Minnesota, a suburb of Minneapolis/St. Paul with my lovely wife Lauren. We live close to our families as we are both very family oriented people. We have four brothers and a sister between us, as well as four nephews between the ages of two and nine, cousins, grandparents and friends all living in the area. I try to be as active as possible in my off-line life but enjoy films, games, walks, water and sunny beaches.

Book List

One of the best things I have done in my web career has been to know that I never have all the answers, or even most of them. That knowledge has kept me from thinking that my job learning is done - learning something new daily is just a hazard of the job. I really enjoy reading a well written web design or development book on code, theory or web lore. Each title has offered me a different learning experience and a knowledge I could not effectively do my job without. Here are books I am or have read as well as books that are waiting on my shelf.
